After meeting at the hot spring, Remiel and Luka seemed to have gotten along well enough to meet each other a few days afterward. A visit to Remiel's favorite local frozen custard stall in Rustboro (thread TBA) preceded a stroll outside of the city limits and onto Route 116. The ambassador had offered to escort Luka through, taking the opportunity to walk the Tyrunt hatchlings he had brought home from his draciary to the north.[break][break]

Of course, reports of Unown sightings on Route 116, so close to his home, also had a part to play in his presence here.[break][break]

For now, the royal simply enjoyed the frozen custard in a waffle cone he hadn't quite finished yet, keeping an eye on the three Tyrunt as they ran amok just ahead. Scaring birds out of trees and critters out of bushes, the three were having the time of their lives, only stopping occasionally to gnaw on something with their large jaws. Almost nothing was out of the question: a random tree trunk, an oddly shaped boulder, even a Tauros at one point.[break][break]

Their little outing had likely been very cute and very sweet. Just like the custard they'd gone out for. We'll see how it goes whenever cutie Oslo makes our cutie starter![break][break]

In light of such a pleasant afternoon, there's a skip to Luka's step as she and Remiel meander towards Route 116 together. Rosé curls bob with every springy step, and her skirt swishes around her thighs. She's polishing off the last of her strawberry custard, savoring the last few bites- it tastes like the same wistful sweetness that comes at the end of summer.[break][break]

In contrast to the toothy Tyrunt running around, Luka's pokemon are- in a word- softer. A cotton candy Mareep trots at her side, with a Buneary snuggled into her matching pink fur. Floating nearby is her Cottonee, who bobs happily on the late summer breeze. Bonbon pokes her head up and squeaks softly, and Luka smiles and hands her the last bit of her custard. She's kind enough to share it with her other two teammates, and the dessert disappears between them in a matter of seconds.[break][break]

"Gosh..." Remiel's Pokemon certainly are rowdy. She doesn't blame them though- they're still young, full of energy they can't be expected to control just yet. "It must be a lot of work," she remarks, "To take care of them all, I mean! I've got my hands full with my Togepi back home, and they aren't nearly as rambunctious."

Stumbling, fleshy food![break][break]

The trio of Tyrunt spot a seemingly vulnerable Spinda as it staggers out from the bushes and onto the path ahead. With hungry snarls and excited eyes, they quickly race forward to see which one of them can take a bite out of it first! The oldest amongst them, Bellona, is the first to take a leap— and misses when it pirouettes away! The middle child, Bellatrix, attempts to take a CRUNCH of her own next from the side— but the Spinda falls flat on its face and ducks away?![break][break]

The youngest, Teutates, finally catches up at that moment and, as the Spinda struggles to lift itself back up again, the dinosaur leaps and lands a single foot on its back. Appearing in a daze, the bear doesn't seem to realize how close to a gruesome death it is as the other two Tyrunt come rushing in to tear limb from limb as their brother gnaws the head. Mercifully, Remiel is swift to produce a luxury ball from his pack and toss it just before the first bite lands.[break][break]

It wouldn't do for a sweet soul like Luka to see such carnage on their otherwise pleasant outing.

"They certainly take a lot of work," The royal answers, stepping forward as the Tyrunt bump the luxury ball on the ground around with their snouts. A vain attempt at opening the ball and releasing the Spinda again, though he picks it up before it can come to that. "I was raised amongst dragons my entire life, however. My Kalosian side of the family live with them, in fact. And the Galarian side, of course, has a history of doing away with them."[break][break]

"Ummm..."[break][break]Luka very nearly covers her eyes. The ferocity with which the three Tyrunt go after that poor Spinda— she can't bear to watch it! Jaws snap and teeth glisten and Luka is reminded, albeit rather jarringly, that the world isn't quite as gentle as she would like it to be.[break][break]But nature or not, she's about to step in and try to scoop up the poor Spinda herself! With no sense of her own self preservation Luka hurries forward, though the foolhardy action is thwarted (thankfully) by Remiel's well timed Pokeball.[break][break]"Oh, thank goodness." A sigh of relief breezes past glossy lips. She's only half paying attention to Remiel, trying to calm the trembling of her heart. "Ah...i-is that so? Sorry, I mean! That's, um, very interesting! The Galarian side of your family...ehe, they sound kind of like fairy tale knights." [break][break] The childish comparison makes her feel a little better. Luka manages a laugh; soft and trembling, like a little bird. But soon her eyes land on another Pokemon, round and pink and a very easy target for Remiel's dragons.[break][break] Luka jumps in before they notice it. She sends Bonbon forward, and a swift double kick is enough to leave it dazed enough to capture. [break][break]

There's a very dark, very real, storied history behind dragon-slaying in Galar. Remiel imagined it wasn't quite as elegant or fantastical as Luka imagined it to be in one of her fairytales. Even so, he felt he should make the distinction between himself and that past very clear as she went on to catch a Jigglypuff.[break][break]

"Yes, well... I'm no fairytale knight, but my family history on both sides certainly inspired me to build the dragon sanctuary I operate north of here. I save dragons these days, more often than not. Those I deem worthy, I train."[break][break]

The three Tyrunt he walked today were the first hatchlings to have been born in his aforementioned draciary: the children of his most powerful ally, Blackjaw. Though one probably couldn't see their potential as army-busters as they clumsily chased a spinning Baltoy around the trail. Eventually, Bellatrix managed to snag it by the arm with her STRONG JAW.[break][break]

The other Tyrunt latched themselves to the 'toy' with their own jaws, and quickly began to pull in three different directions in an effort to tear the Baltoy limb from limb. Thankfully (again), Remiel produced a luxury ball and tossed it at the clay golem, devouring it in a flash of light— much to the hatchling's collective dismay.[break][break]

"No? You could have, erm, c-could've fooled me!"[break][break]That kind of line might have sounded smooth if it came from anyone else. But Luka is far from suave, tripping over her words like a schoolgirl with a crush. She clears her throat and tries again.[break][break]

"I mean! Um, that's really cool! Your sanctuary...thingy. I think it's really admirable that you save them..." And she does, even though the more violent, stereotypically aggressive dragon types make her feel rather nervous. Luka's only trained one dragon in her life, and the sweet Goomy back home is a far cry from the toothy beasts Remiel has running around.[break][break]

A Starly lands nearby, but with a quick wave of her hands Luka waves it off, lest it become prey to those snapping jaws. But she doesn't notice the Baltoy until it's too late.[break][break]

"T-they, um...I mean, they're quite, um..." Dangerous? Violent? A little scary? Luka doesn't dare utter such words, for she's sure the dragons aren't malicious. They're young, and it's probably just party of their nature. But it makes her a little uncomfortable nonetheless, watching them treat that poor Baltoy like a chewtoy. She squeezes her eyes shut when they try to tug it apart, and only opens them when she hears Remiel toss the Luxury ball that saves the golem's life.[break][break]

"Q-quite rambunctious, aren't they?"

A Medicham had seen the destructive Tyrunt siblings harass its forest friends from afar. Taking it upon itself to quell this madness, it leapt out from a tree and descended upon Teutates with an ICE PUNCH. His sisters croaked out adorable attempts at a roar, ignoring the fact that they'd come out as snarls, more like, before charging at their aggressor.[break][break]

"They just don't know their own strength yet. Not really," Remiel says, turning over his shoulder to smile at Luka before stepping forward to retrieve his capture. "They're learning, however. Some experience outside of the draciary does them wonders."[break][break]

"I, um...I-I see! I just think, erm..."[break][break]

It's another scene she can't bear to watch. Instead Luka scans the forest around them, keeping an eye out for wild Pokemon. It appears as if she's trying to spot a few to catch for herself, but as soon as a Linoone pokes it's head out of the bushes, she and her Buneary are shooing it away again.[break][break]

"Monsieur, it's just..." Teeth worry her bottom lip and fingers twist into the fabric of her skirt. Luka knows it's probably best not to say anything, but she can't ignore the way her own team quivers and shakes in fear. Her Cottonee has taken refuge amongst her shiny Mareep's soft fluff, and even Bonbon, one of the more seasoned members of her team, seems a bit rattled.[break][break]

Perhaps they're all a bit too gentle for the harsh reality of the world. Luka's chest is four thick walls of roses, and her heart is soft. And it breaks for those poor Pokemon every time.[break][break]

"They, um...shouldn't they also be learning how to be kind, at such a young age?"

Kindness? Remiel pauses after placing his recently captured Pokémon away. Kindness wasn't inherent to Tyrunt and Tyrantrum. It didn't exist in the natural world they grew up in— and most certainly not the prehistoric one they'd left behind. Reassessing the meaning of the word towards something more practical, the royal eventually whistles for them to regroup at his feet. The three of them race to adhere to their master's call, rocky scales and heads grinding and bumping into each other all the while.[break][break]

When they've gathered to his call, looking up at him with eager faces, Remiel responds. "Most dragon tamers have difficulty with taming Tyrunt and Tyrantrum. But, as you can see, I teach them to take orders at a very young age. Even so, they're still learning not to get a little... carried away sometimes." Though, in all honesty, that was typically what gave Tyrantrum their strength in the first place. He simply wanted to reassure her that he didn't train loose cannons. So he turns to her and smiles.[break][break]

"Perhaps they need a gentler hand than mine in their training. Care to try?" Following their master's gaze, the trio turn their heads in Luka's direction; curious.[break][break]

Luka immediately feels abashed.[break][break]

It's pretty bold of her to give advice when she's hardly an experienced trainer herself. And Remiel is a dragon tamer. A master of the species. She's just a fool running her mouth.[break][break]

"Um..." The three little dragons turn to face her and she immediately freezes in place. Shame brings a flood of crimson to her cheeks, and nervous laughter stutters past her lips. "I'm not sure, um...t-that is, erm..."[break][break]

What can she teach them that Remiel hasn't already? And why would they listen to her in the first place? She thinks about Helios, who so stubbornly refutes anything she tries to tell him, and her weak resolve crumbles even further.[break][break]

"I'm sorry, Monsieur," she says softly. "I spoke out of turn, um..." The hand clenching her skirt hand goes knuckle white, until a soft paw lights upon it. At her side, Bonbon looks up and squeaks softly, an assuring smile on her face.[break][break]

"Um. Oh! Erm..." Using her shiny sweetie as an example, Luka hurriedly roots through her bag to pluck out three berries. One is handed to each of her Pokemon, and Luka encourages them forwards with a smile. "Sharing, um. S-sharing nicely is something I've tried to teach all of mine. Maybe that can help?" Her fluffy team hesitantly moves forwards, each offering out half a berry for a dragon to share.
